A journey through Uganda
Uganda is not simply a destination to visit. It is a country to experience slowly, through its landscapes, wildlife, communities and people.
A journey through Uganda might begin beside Lake Victoria before continuing towards Murchison Falls, where the River Nile is forced through a narrow gorge with extraordinary power. Along the riverbanks, elephants gather near the water, hippos surface beside the boat and giraffes move gracefully across the savannah. Every day offers something different, and no two safaris are ever quite the same.
Further south, the scenery changes as the journey reaches Kibale Forest, home to one of Africa’s largest populations of chimpanzees. Walking beneath the forest canopy and hearing chimpanzees calling through the trees is an experience that stays with you long after the journey ends.
In Queen Elizabeth National Park, the adventure continues across open plains, volcanic landscapes and the Kazinga Channel. Travellers may encounter elephants, buffalo, lions, antelope and an incredible variety of birdlife. In the Ishasha sector, there is even the possibility of seeing Uganda’s famous tree-climbing lions resting among the branches.
The journey eventually leads into the mist-covered mountains of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Trekking through the forest to spend time with a family of mountain gorillas is one of the most moving wildlife experiences in the world. Nothing fully prepares you for the moment a gorilla looks directly at you from only a few metres away.
Yet Uganda’s greatest impression is not created by wildlife alone. It is found in the warmth of its people, the roadside villages, bustling markets, local food and the conversations that happen along the way. These are often the unexpected moments that become a traveller’s favourite memories.
As an Ugandan safari specialist with my home in Canada and my TICO registered office in Uganda , I want my guests to experience more than the country’s famous attractions. I want them to discover the Uganda I know and love. Every journey with Bashim Safaris is carefully planned around the traveller, whether it is a first African safari, a gorilla-trekking adventure, a cultural journey or a combination of Uganda’s highlights.
From the source of the Nile to the forests of Bwindi, Uganda is filled with remarkable experiences. My role is to bring those experiences together and help each guest feel welcomed, comfortable and connected to the country throughout their journey.
Uganda is known as the Pearl of Africa. Come and discover why.
